Frequently Asked Questions
How often does my child need tutoring?
This really depends on the student's age and the subject matter. Some students may only need an hour a week, while older students with more difficult subject matter most often need more time, more frequently. We will meet with you to determine the best course of action for your child's specific needs.
How long will my child require tutoring?
Again, this depends on the student's needs and abilities. Some students may need only a short time to help get caught up or prepare for a specific test, while others may need ongoing support throughout the school year and even over the summer. There are no long-term contracts. We work on a month-to-month basis, so your students needs can be continually assessed.
Are there any assessment tests my child must take before beginning tutoring?
No, assessment tests, which can cost up to $200 in a learning center environment, are not a prerequisite in order for your child to be tutored.
What learning materials are used for tutoring?
We tutor from your child's school curriculum. We ask that your child bring home their schoolbooks and any other materials they are working on in their class that relates to the subject(s) we are tutoring. Our tutors will provide supplemental materials if they feel it will complement and enhance the students progress.
How do you ensure quality tutors?
Our tutors come from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Some are certified teachers and others are degreed professionals, all with a passion for helping students. Our tutors go through a rigorous screening process. We guarantee your satisfaction, so if at anytime you are not satisfied with your tutor, we will find another that better suits your needs.
What if I don't want the tutor to come to my home?
No problem. We will tutor anywhere you want us to tutor, as long as it's a safe place for our tutors. However, we do require that an adult chaperone be present for tutoring sessions.
I have multiple children who need tutoring, do you offer discounts?
Call our office for details. We try to make tutoring expenses reasonable for larger families.
What geographical areas do you service?
We have tutors available in all of Sonoma County and Marin County. We can also service the Napa area and parts of the East Bay and San Francisco. Please call our office for specific details.
Do you provide test preparation for the SAT, ACT, AP and Cat6 tests?
Yes, we prepare students for all of the above mentioned tests, as well as some others. We highly recommend that you contact us at least six weeks before the test so our tutors have enough time to help your child prepare. Experience has shown that two hours a week is most effective for test prep.
Do your tutors work with learning disabled or special needs children?
Yes. Many of our tutors are Special Needs certified and will be able to work in conjunction with your child's I.E.P. or 504 Plan.
How long does it take to get a tutor?
After we meet with you, our Director will contact one of our tutors within 24 hours. We will then call to tell you about the tutor. The tutor will then call you to introduce themselves, get directions to your home and establish a schedule that works for you.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept all major credit cards through online payments.
